THE LAVENDER WAY

The Lavender Way is the only organic lavender farm in Crete. Gill grows several different cultivars although lavandula angustifolia predominates.

No pesticides. No herbicides. No fertilisers. All our stock is strictly home grown. All is planted and harvested by hand, with love.

Planted in concentric circles our crops protect each other. We follow the zen of organic farming promulgated by Masanobu Fukuoka...if modern agriculture continues to follow the path it's on now, it's finished.

The food-growing situation may seem to be in good shape today, but that's just an illusion based on the current availability of petroleum fuels.

All the wheat, corn, and other crops that are produced on big American farms may be alive and growing, but they're not products of real nature or real agriculture.
They're manufactured rather than grown. The earth isn't producing those things... petroleum is!

Lavender Way produces, and offers for sale to discerning customers: essential oils, sachets, gel, spritzers, tea, hand-made wands, and the odd luxury gift and ship our superior products worldwide.

We occasionally allow visits to the farm itself where, if the season is right, you might be allowed to help harvest a bunch or two of lavender.

NEWS UPDATE - in February 2009 we made official application to DIO , the Greek certification authority, for organic certification. Our first farm inspection has been completed successfully and our organic plan has been approved.

If all goes well our lavender products will receive full certification in 2011 and our olive production in 2012.
